dA is...

Fri May 29, 2009, 9:43 PM
I logged onto my dA today. It finally said I had been a member of deviantArt for 3 years.

Thats a long time. Its the average time I've lived in a city. (If counted houses it'd be a smaller number).

Anywho, I've learned a few things since I've been a member:

1. In order to get hits on your works you have to
A. Create something controversial or shockingly controversial
B. Create something related to romance, love, or relationships
C. You hit the jack pot when you can get both.

2. The good authors don't repost in a timely manner, even if they say they'll try to.

3. You are always curious about what was popular way back, but wouldn't ever consider getting the subscription when the benefits are so minimal. Going without a subscription doesn't inconvenience you in anyway. I rarely come across a user who pays for subscription, it normally is a gift.

4. There are more subgenres than I ever would know what to do with.

5. I knew very little of art before being a member and now I still don't know very much. =]

6. Finally, I've learned that I will never be popular on dA. I never write anything too controversial, the stories I enjoy writing are sci-fi and fantasy, and if I were ever to write anything popular in style (*cough* stubborn boy meets stubborn girl and are put in many humorous situations. the boy generally likes the girl but the girl adamentally refuses, but love inevitably happens through a series of dramatic events) Kataya would beat me over the head with how typical it would be and probably laugh until I was thoroughly embarassed. And if you know Kataya, she is THE person to go to for honest, critical, and constructive feedback.

I guess, I've realized that I haven't learned much after three years. And it doesn't really matter because that was never the goal in the first place. I became a member so I could stop those stupid adds that popped up whenever I was looking up artwork, so I could get ideas on how to describe certain objects, places, and things. Because those adds are an inconvenience that requires membership in order to avoid.

The Knowledge-less,
Alala Conroy. ^_^
